About Us
Kamothe is one of the fastest growing nodes of Navi Mumbai due largely to its proximity to the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport. Added to this, Kamothe enjoys the locational advantage of being equidistant  both from the Mumbai -Pune Expressway and Mansarovar Railway Station, at a stone throw distance. Therefore it is no wonder that people as early as 2007 in large numbers shifted to Kamothe to settle down with their families.

Amongst the people, many Bengali families too choose Kamothe as their homes. Twelve such Bengali families chanced upon meeting to each other and decided to form an association of Bengali community to inculcate and uphold the rich cultural heritage of Bengal at Kamothe by following various Bengali practices and systems.

With this mission in view, the twelve families held their first formal meeting at the premises of the Puritan Ganesh Mandir at Kamothe on the 8th of August, 2010. On that day, Kamothe Bengali Association ( KBA) came into existence.

To begin with, it was decided to celebrate the Durga Puja in the month of October, 2010 with a humble budget of Rs. 60000/-.

A tremendous amount of zeal  and enthusiasm of the group members soon resulted in new membership, thus, in the first year itself 58 founding members got themselves enrolled in KBA. Witnessing the passion and success of the Durga Puja, soon KBA started celebrating Laxmi Puja, Kali Puja, Saraswati Puja, Holi Milan, Nabo Barsho, KBA Foundation Day besides holding various cultural programmes on the anniversaries of immortal Bengali Poets, writers, patriots  and a number of social activities.

Soon KBA was registered under the appropriate act of Govt. of Maharashtra.

The local populace having found KBA as a true platform of Bengali culture and heritage, started enrolling as members in large numbers. Today’s 300 families who are a part and parcel of KBA lends testimony to above. It is no surprise that KBA is still growing in strength with each passing day.

Objectives
The initial congregation of our Association was rooted to preserve the culture and practices the organizing of Durga puja, which is known as the greatest festival of the Bengali community. It is our aim to construct a Bengali community Centre together with a Kali Mata Temple ( which we commonly call it as Kali Badi) in line with other nodes of Navi Mumbai Bengali Organizations supported by CIDCO which has kindly allocated land for the Kali Badi and similar purposes. Our main objective is to have our own Community centre which can help huge Bengali families in the Kamothe node to assemble, interact, nurture and propagate rich cultural heritage of the Bengali community.
